VISA Check Card Benefits Do you need to pay for purchases or services when you don't have the cash? Don't want to charge it? Forgot your checkbook? Here's the answer: Use your credit union VISA Check Card. With a credit union VISA Check Card, payment is automatically deducted from your credit union share draft account. It's ideal for travel. And it's safer than cash! It's easier than writing a check. And unlike credit cards, there are no monthly bills or finance charges. Is my VISA® Check Card a credit card? No. It is a debit card. It can be used for ATM withdrawals or can be used for payments on purchases anywhere VISA® is accepted. You purchases are withdrawn from your MFCU checking account. Where can I use my VISA® Check Card? You can use your new card anywhere VISA® credit cards are accepted - retail stores, restaurants, supermarkets, hotels, airlines, etc. In fact, your card can be used at millions of locations around the world! In addition, since your VISA Check card is an enhanced ATM Card, you can use it at any ATM displaying the CIRRUS®, NYCE® or VISA® logos. Look for the SUM® logo on the ATM; you may avoid a surcharge. How do I use my VISA® Check Card? When purchasing an item or service, it's as simple as using a credit card. When you make your purchase, you will sign a sales slip. The purchase will be withdrawn from the available funds in your MiddConn FCU checking account. At an ATM machine, use your VISA® Check Card just as you would your ATM Card. What are the benefits of using my new VISA® Check Card? There are many conveniences.

How do I keep track of my purchases? You will receive a receipt with each VISA® Check Card purchase and ATM transaction. You should record each amount in your check register. All purchases and ATM transactions will be listed on your monthly checking account statement. What if I want to return a purchase made with my VISA® Check Card? No problem! It's just like returning merchandise purchased with a credit card. Just be sure to save your receipt in case you need to return an item. Your rights relating to funds and returned merchandise are the same as when you pay with cash or a check. You must resolve issues of this type directly with the merchant. It is the merchants own policy on refunds or returns that govern these transactions. What accounts can I access? For ATM use you will be able to make withdrawals from your savings and checking accounts. VISA® Check Card purchases will be withdrawn only from your checking account. Can both my spouse and I have our own VISA® Check Card? Yes, as long as each of you qualifies, fill out and sign an application. What should I do with my current MFCU ATM Card? Please return your current MFCU ATM Card upon verifying that your new VISA® Check Card works or destroy it. What happens if my VISA® Check Card is stolen or lost? Notify MiddConn FCU immediately at (860)638-5360. We will block your card and order you a new one. What should I do if I cannot remember my personal identification number or if the card's magnetic stripe is damaged? Contact MFCU during normal business hours. We do not have access to your PIN. You can re-pin your card at our Middletown office. If you need a new card, there is a $5.00 replacement card fee for the first card; $10 for subsequent replacement cards. As a precaution, you should always keep your card in the protective sleeve provided. Be sure to keep it away from magnetic fields, eel skin wallets and security access cards. |
